The Firm's Principals

The firm's principals are Greg Gilbert, Eddy Havrilla, Rick Goranson and Jeff Bowser.

We have enjoyed a 30+ year relationship with each other. From 1982-1988 Greg and Rick worked together at Coopers & Lybrand and then with the firm that became Steakley & Gilbert, P.C. Eddy started his accounting career in 1975 with Coopers & Lybrand in Atlanta. He moved to Oklahoma City in 1979 to become a partner in the firm of Amspacher & Havrilla, P.C. Eddy, Rick and Greg shared offices together as suite mates from 1985 to 1988. Rick joined Eddy in 1992 to create the firm of Havrilla & Goranson, P.C. Jeff has over 20 years public accounting experience and has worked with Greg for more than 15 years. Over the years, we have all collaborated together on several different mutual client projects.

 

Our Team

Greg P. Gilbert, Audit & Tax Partner

Mr. Gilbert is a Certified Public Accountant and has also obtained a Masters in Accounting from Oklahoma State University in 1980. He has over thirty years experience in auditing and tax including five years of service as a Senior Auditor and Tax Supervisor with Coopers & Lybrand. Mr. Gilbert has been associated with Steakley & Gilbert, P.C. since inception until it merged with Havrilla & Goranson, P.C. and formed CPAOKC, PLLC.

Edward J. Havrilla, Tax Partner

Mr. Havrilla is a Certified Public Accountant with an MBA in Accounting & Finance from Georgia State University and a BBA in Accounting from the University of Georgia. He has served over 35 years in public accounting. He was a principal with Havrilla & Goranson, P.C. for 30 years before the firm merged into CPAOKC, PLLC. Prior to Havrilla & Goranson P.C., he was an Audit Supervisor with Coopers & Lybrand.

Rick Goranson, Tax Partner

Mr. Goranson is a Certified Public Accountant. He has over thirty years experience in public and private practice. He was a Principal with Havrilla & Goranson, P.C. for 22 years before the firm merged into CPAOKC, PLLC. Prior to Havrilla & Goranson P.C., he served as Chief Financial Officer with Landmark Financial Services, Inc., Tax Manager with Coopers & Lybrand and Steakley & Gilbert, P.C. and Senior Tax Accountant with Houston, Lighting & Power Company.

Jeff Bowser, Tax Partner

Mr. Bowser is a Certified Public Accountant with a Masters in Accounting from Oklahoma City University and a BBA in Finance from Texas Christian University. Mr. Bowser has over 20 years experience in public accounting. He served as a tax manager with a local accounting firm from 1993 until his affiliation with Steakley and Gilbert, P.C. in 2000 and remained there until it merged with Havrilla & Goranson, P.C. to form CPAOKC, PLLC.

Jane Hresko, Audit Manager

Ms. Hresko is a Certified Public Accountant who has been employed by Steakley & Gilbert, P.C. since December of 1992. She has over forty years experience in both the public and private practice of accounting, including five years of service with KPMG and Deloitte. Ms. Hresko participates in much of the auditing services provided by the firm. She received her degree in accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1976.

Jim Clark, Tax Manager

James L. Clark has a B.S. degree in Accounting (1981) from Oklahoma State University. Prior to merging with Steakley & Gilbert Mr. Clark had been with Havrilla & Goranson, PC since 1998 after leaving a three year position as Tax Manager for a multi-state corporation. From 1984 through 1995 he was Tax Manager for Red Eagle Resources Corporation, a publicly held company. From 1981 through 1984 he was a Tax Specialist with the accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand. Mr. Clark is experienced in the preparation of federal and state corporate, partnership, fiduciary, individual and estate tax returns, and tax planning in all these areas.

Zack Bluethman, Tax Manager

Mr. Bluethman is a Certified Public Accountant and has a degree in accounting and a degree in finance from Oklahoma State University. Zack has over 9 years of experience specializing in banking, construction, and insurance taxation while working previously for Cole & Reed PC and Grant Thornton LLP. Zack joined the firm in August 2015 as a Tax Manager.

Jake Reynolds, Tax Manager

Mr. Reynolds is a Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of Oklahoma City University’s Meinders School of Business, where he obtained a B.S. in Business Administration. He began his career at MetaFund Corporation, an Oklahoma City-based private equity concern, where he focused on business plan analysis, tax credit compliance and portfolio management. Mr. Reynolds began practicing public accounting at Cole & Reed, P.C. (now RSM) and was awarded the OSCPA’s Silver Medal Award for highest CPA Exam score during his session. Prior to joining CPAOKC in 2017, Mr. Reynolds was president of Custom Composites, LLC (now McClarin Plastics OKC), an Oklahoma City-based manufacturer of custom fiberglass and polypropylene parts for heavy industrial use.

Valerie McCall, Tax Manager

Ms. McCall is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and a Certified Public Accountant with over 25 years of experience in both public and private accounting & taxation. Valerie spent 5 years in public accounting starting with Grant Thornton & then Murrell, Hall, McIntosh Co. She later worked for 6 years for a high net worth family group where she gained valuable experience including foreign taxation and investments. She has also worked as a Tax Senior for a multi-national public company and has experience with consolidations and international tax issues. Valerie joined our firm in January 2016 as a Tax Manager.

Debbie Litton, Tax Staff

Ms. Litton is a Certified Public Accountant and has a BBA in Accounting from the University of Oklahoma. She started her career in corporate accounting with Amoco Production Co. and worked in general accounting and joint interest billing. She has over 20 years of experience with a local accounting firm in the area of tax preparation. She joined the firm of CPAOKC, PLLC in January 2015.

Nancy Barnett, Accounting Staff

Ms. Barnett attended Oklahoma City Community College until her entry into the workplace in 1970. She served as controller/officer manager for a medical supply company for the period 1992-1998 until her affiliation with the firm in February 1999.

Mona Mason, Accounting Staff

Ms. Mason entered the workforce in 1977. Her primary experience was in purchasing management where she was a buyer/importer for a nationwide company prior to entering the accounting field. She served as controller for a medical supply company and a sportswear manufacturing company prior to her affiliation with the firm of Steakley and Gilbert in March 2001, where she remained until the firm merged with Havrilla & Goranson PC to form CPAOKC, PLLC.

Tara Nowell, Accounting Staff

Ms. Nowell has a BS degree in Accounting from University of Central Oklahoma. Tara spent 3 years in public accounting with RSM US LLP. Tara is experienced in the preparation of federal and state corporate, partnership, individual and not-for-profit returns as well as financial reporting for these business types. She joined CPAOKC, PLLC in June 2019.

Amy McAlister, Director of Administration

Ms. McAlister has a BS degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma City University. Amy has over 25 years of operational management and support experience gained while working at McGladrey LLP (formerly Cole & Reed PC), Xerox Corporation, and American Fidelity Assurance. Amy joined the firm in August 2015 as the firm’s Director of Administration.

Shelley Hatcher, Receptionist

Ms. Hatcher joined Havrilla & Goranson in September 2013. Shelley is well versed on all administrative aspects of the firm and serves as the primary point of contact for all clients visiting the firm.
